  • supporting clients with personal needs such as eating, washing and dressing
  • ensuring that your clients are comfortable and satisfied
  • meeting with clients and their families to develop a care plan
  • monitoring goals and the path of your client’s recovery
  • attending training and support meetings
  • assisting clients and their families with emotional issues

4. Do I need previous care experience to apply?

You can work as a carer without having any prior experience. From the moment you join our team, we will support you through the assessment process and into shadowing an experienced carer, training you until you feel confident handling your role.

All we ask is that you approach the job with a positive outlook and a passion for helping others.

Training and qualifications

At Advanced Care, all new starters are trained up to NVQ Levels 2 and 3, with training delivered in-house at our offices in Coventry. You don’t need any previous experience in the care sector and all graduates receive a signed-off Care Certificate at the end of their training.

 

No two days are the same

One day you might be helping someone do their weekly shop, the next you might be taking them to see friends or helping them take part in an activity they enjoy. 6. What type of Service Users would I be working with?

We help a wide range of individuals. While working in Advanced Care, you will encounter regular Service Users with whom you can build a bond, rapport and trust. Before you visit a Service User’s home, we’ll always ensure that you’re informed about them.

7. How long will it take until I can start?

The application process will only require a couple of minutes. Following that, we will invite you to an interview where you will chat with one of our team members.

After that, we’ll need to confirm that you’re compliant to work.

We can complete the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, and make all the necessary preparations in the background for you to begin as soon as you finish the checks.

8. Do I need to be able to drive?

Yes. To work as a carer at Advanced Care, you need to hold a full UK Driving Licence, be able to drive and have access to your own mode of transport.

9. Where are your Service Users based?

At Advanced Care, we exclusively provide home care services to the citizens of Coventry.

Proprietor of Advanced Care

Thirty years ago, Louise began her work in care at Coventry City Council. She started her career as a Community Care Worker, regularly visiting homes to assist service users.

Whilst working out in the district, she developed invaluable knowledge and experience, swiftly completing her vocational, supervisory and management training. Around this time, she also became increasingly passionate about making home support a life-affirming experience for service users.

That same passion is still apparent today.

Louise’s career at the Coventry City Council advanced to various managerial positions. After serving on the Council for 13 years, she decided to pursue the entrepreneurial route and start her own business.

In 1999, she founded Advanced Care.

Since then, Advanced Care has stood at the forefront of the Coventry home care industry, amassing a valuable client base throughout the city.

Louise makes all of the executive decisions at Advanced Care while remaining hands-on. Furthermore, she visits new service users to introduce herself, explain the home support process and perform assessments which minimise risks to the service user.
